Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you create a NoSwipe account, we collect your username, email address, password (stored as a bcrypt hash — never in plain text), and date of birth to verify you are 18 or older.

Profile information. You may optionally provide a bio, interests, vibe description, and up to three profile photos. This information is visible to other users according to your privacy settings.

Activity data. We collect information about how you use NoSwipe, including stories you post, meetup requests you send or receive, events you RSVP to, bargains you list, hotspots you add, messages you send, and reactions you leave.

Device and technical data. We collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, operating system, and page visit timestamps. This data is used for security, debugging, and abuse prevention.

2. How we use your information

• To operate, maintain, and improve the NoSwipe platform
• To show your profile and activity to other users based on your privacy settings
• To send you notifications about meetup requests, messages, and follows (if you have notifications enabled)
• To verify you are 18 or older as required by our Terms of Service
• To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our community guidelines
• To process payments through Stripe for Host Mode subscriptions and gifts
• To respond to your support requests and communications

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.

3. Location data

How location works. NoSwipe uses your device's GPS to show you nearby users and place you on the live map. Your exact coordinates are never shared with other users. We apply a random offset of up to ±25 meters to all displayed locations to protect your privacy.

Ghost Zones. You can set up to three Ghost Zone locations (e.g., Home, Gym, Work). When your device detects you are within 35 meters of a Ghost Zone, you automatically vanish from all maps and the nearby users list. Ghost Zone detection happens on your device — your exact Ghost Zone coordinates are stored on our servers but are never shared with other users.

Ghost Mode. You can manually enable Ghost Mode at any time from Settings to remove yourself from all maps immediately.

Location storage. Your last known approximate location is stored in our database to enable the nearby map feature. You can disable location sharing at any time in Settings → Privacy → Location visibility.

4. Photos and media

Profile photos and story media you upload are stored securely on Amazon Web Services S3 in the United States (us-east-2 region). Photos are accessible to other users according to your privacy settings (Public, Followers only, or Private).

Story posts expire and are automatically deleted after 24 hours. Profile photos remain until you replace or delete them. You can delete your account at any time to remove all your photos.

5. How we share your information

We share your information only in these circumstances:

• With other NoSwipe users — your profile, posts, and activity as controlled by your privacy settings
• With Stripe — when you subscribe to Host Mode or send/receive gifts, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We share your email with Stripe but never store your card details
• With Amazon Web Services — for photo and media storage
• With Ticketmaster — when you click on third-party event listings, you are directed to Ticketmaster's platform under their own privacy policy
• For legal compliance — if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public
• In a business transfer — if NoSwipe is acquired or merges with another company, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction

6. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your profile, photos, stories, messages, and personal information within 30 days. Some data may be retained in backups for up to 90 days.

Server logs and anonymized usage data may be retained for up to 12 months for security and analytics purposes.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including bcrypt password hashing, HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, and AWS S3 server-side encryption for stored media. We enforce rate limiting on login attempts to prevent brute-force attacks.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your rights and choices

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access. You can view all information on your profile page at any time
• Correction. You can update your profile information, email, and username in Settings
• Deletion. You can permanently delete your account in Settings → Delete Account
• Privacy controls. You can control who sees your profile, photos, stories, and location in Settings → Privacy
• Notifications. You can disable email and push notifications in Settings → Notifications
• Ghost Mode. You can hide yourself from all maps at any time in Settings → Ghost Zones

If you are a Florida resident, you have rights under the Florida Digital Bill of Rights including the right to access, correct, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal data. We do not sell personal data. To exercise your rights, contact us at the address below.

9. Minors

NoSwipe is strictly for users 18 years of age and older. We collect date of birth during registration and do not permit accounts for persons under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will immediately terminate their account and delete their data. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us immediately at admin@noswipe.io.

10. Third-party services

NoSwipe uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

• Stripe — payment processing (stripe.com/privacy)
• Amazon Web Services — media storage (aws.amazon.com/privacy)
• Ticketmaster / Live Nation — third-party event listings
• Google Fonts — typography (no cookies set)
• Font Awesome — icons served via CDN

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice in the app or by email. Your continued use of NoSwipe after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
